Serving God and Neighbor
My Dear Parish Family:
Happy Thanksgiving! I know it was on Thursday, but we are able to celebrate and give thanks to Almighty God for all His many blessings to our Nation, the world and our families all weekend. We are now in the “holiday season.” Please remember the importance of this time of the year is being with family and friends and to spend time with God in prayer and at Mass. The Advent Season is a beautiful season filled with hope and joy. We should try to do something special during Advent. Spending extra time in prayer or attending Mass more regularly are good ways to prepare for Christmas.
Remember, it is okay and we can say “Merry Chrismas!” Our Knights of Columbus have car magnets reminding everyone that Jesus is the Reason for the Season. So, please support Our Knights and be proud to let everyone know that you are
a Catholic Christian with the knowledge that Jesus, the Savior, has been born.
Our outdoor Nativity will be blessed after the
4 P.M. Mass on December 1st.
All are welcome and this year Fr. Dan and I will be “Blessing the Baby Jesus” at all the Masses on December 23rd.
You may bring to Church your image of the Baby Jesus from your home Nativity set. If you do not have a Nativity set at your home now is the time to order one online or buy one from the store. Whether you have had the Nativity set for years or it is new, we will bless the image of the Baby Jesus (and any other images from your family’s Nativity set you wish to bring to Church).
Last week we had an In-pew event for the Renew & Rebuild program. Please seriously consider helping out in this Archdiocesan wide Campaign. It will greatly benefit our parish. I am always grateful for all the many ways you support our parish church.
Until next week, peace and prayers. St. Benedict, pray for us! Terence Cardinal Cooke, Servant of God, pray for us!
